The Mansfield team plays a tough game against Coventry – but maybe could use some work on those left-footed kicks?

Mansfield vs. Coventry – Girl’s Soccer Game

Oct. 3, 2008

Shannon: It’s another brisk day, windy with thick clouds overhead.

Erica: Brrrr….*shiver, shiver*

S: The field is wet and muddy from all the rain. But now that the game’ has started, it looks like we’re doing well!

E: We’re doing a great job, and already had a shot on goal.

S: Wow! Becca has a break away and shoots, the goalie fumbles, drops it,and Carolyn’s there…and- And – GGGGOOOOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLLL!!!!!!

E: WOOOOOOO!!!!!

S: And the score’s 1-0, Mansfield.

E: Great! Now Devyn is going for a second corner kick – as always, a great one.

S: We’re pretty much always on their half of the field. There are none of our players on our half of the field at the moment. (Suzy just got a picture of Gabby, our goalie, who waves to us).

E: Yeah, Coventry hasn’t had any shots on goal, yet.

S: Here’s a throw in by Coventry and now all of a sudden, here’s Coventry with a corner kick!

E: OH NOOO! *gasp*

S: And a great save by Murphy, kicking the ball off to the outside, away from our goal.

E: Becca is doing a great job out there! Look at her go! She gets the ball upfield all the time; she’s all over the field!

S: Coventry is stepping up their pace a bit, now they are keeping the ball in our half of the field a lot more. The score is still, 1-0, Mansfield.

E: Wow! They really are coming back! They would have nearly scored if Carly hadn’t stopped the ball and sent it flying back towards their half of the field.

S: And that’s the half – it seemed rather short to me. The score is still, 1-0, Mansfield.

E: The next half’s started and Coventry’s back with a bite.

S: Now we have a corner kick.

E: Carolyn receives! And TAPS IT IN!!!! WOOOOO!!!! The score is now 2-0, Mansfield.

S: WOW! The clouds! They’re opening up! The sun, it’s blinding!

E: And now it’s gone.

S: And Carolyn’s now rushing up the field, with the ball on the left side! AND – misses. That’s OK.

E: And now Morgan’s got a chance on the left, and missed too!

S: All of a sudden, Coventry’s got a chance to score!

E: And now we’re back on their side of the field! And there goes Shannon, in for Morgan. Wow! Shannon’s chasing the ball down! Will she make it before Coventry? YES! SHE DOES! And she follows through towards their goal!!!! AND SHOOTS WITH HER LEFT FOOT!!! AND misses. Man, those left-footed shots are killing our players. We need to work on them!

S: And I’m back, and Erica goes in for me, and Suze goes in, too. Audra also goes in. And she’s got a breakaway on the left, too!!!! SHE SHOOTS, SHE misses… Like all of our left-footed shots! And the game continues, very close to the end. And there’s the whistle! Final score, 2-0, Mansfield. Good game Coventry, great game Mansfield!
