The team takes on No. 1 Syracuse on Saturday, Oct. 18.

The No. 9 ranked University of Connecticut women’s field hockey team tallied its 12th win of the season and its third straight, with a 3-0 victory over Northeastern at a home game Wednesday night.

Three different UConn players scored goals in the victory, giving Head Coach Nancy Stevens her 296th win for UConn.

Senior Lauren Aird (Harare, Zimbabwe) scored her 11th goal of the season when she fired a shot past Northeasten goalkeeper Colleen Duffy at 15:38 into the game. Freshman Ali Blankmeyer (Convent Station, N.J.) spotted Aird in front of the net and passed it to her, giving Blankmeyer her first assist of the season.

UConn struck again when sophomore Melissa Gonzalez (Mohegan Lake, N.Y) intercepted a pass and brought the ball into the circle. Senior Lindsey Leck (Clarksburg, N.J.) gained control of the ball and passed to sophomore Robin Kleine (Uithoorn, Holland), who was standing at the left post. Kleine put the ball in the net at the 24:15 mark.

Junior Katie Semanoff (Lehighton, Pa.) closed out the scoring for UConn after she blasted a shot past the left shoulder of Duffy at 32:34. The goal was assisted by Leck, her second of the game.

Junior Andrea Mainiero (Emmaus, Pa.) had one save for the contest, earning her fourth shutout of the season.

The Huskies will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 18 when they travel to take on No. 1 Syracuse. That game time is set for 1 p.m.
