Afternoon program focuses on ‘Solving the mysteries of women’s health’
Janice Law Trecker, whose topic is “Death, Sin, and Sensible Women,” will be the dinner speaker.
Windham Hospital will host an afternoon program “Solving the Mysteries of Women’s Health,” from 3 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 19 at the University of Connecticut Alumni Center.
The program will feature a keynote speech by mystery writer and artist Janice Law Trecker .
Retired UConn professor and psychotherapist Cynthia Adams is chairing the event. She says, “Mystery is the perfect theme for this conference, as we sleuth out the best options for our health.”
Some of these “mysteries” include:

Hormones - do we take them and if so, what kind, when and for how long?

What, if anything, can we do to preserve our youth?
-
What products are the villains and who are the heroes we may trust?
And other topics such as nutrition, and heart health.
The program begins at 3 p.m. with a “high tea,” and at 4 p.m. there will be a panel discussion focused on “Hormones, Healthcare, and You: Boldly Exploring Women’s Issues,” moderated by James Watson, M.D., an associate at Mansfield OB/GYN.

Chief of the Department of Otolaryngology/Facial Plastic Surgery at Windham Hospital, plastic surgeon Jerilyn S. Allen, M.D.

Yvette Martas, M.D., of Mansfield OB/GYN Associates and
-
Lynne McPhee, a registered dietitian specializing in diabetes and cardiovascular nutritional therapy
The conference will also feature two sessions:

“Guard Your Heart” with cardiologist Anthea Woodley and “New Options in Facial Rejuvenation” with Jerilyn S. Allen, MD.
Janice Law Trecker, whose topic is “Death, Sin, and Sensible Women,” will be the dinner speaker. She is an author and artist, as well as an adjunct professor of English at UConn. She is most popular for her mystery novels, and has published historical novels, history books, articles, and short stories.
