Mansfield Movieplex re-opens
The movie theater in East Brook Mall has re-opened under new ownership, according to a press release issued by East Brook Mall management.
The Mansfield Movieplex 8 was purchased by the Mansfield Cinema Corporation, a subsidiary of Zurich Cinema Corporation [Conrad Zurich] of Fayetteville, New York that currently operates 68 screens in 11 locations in Massachusetts and New York. This purchase represents their first in Connecticut.
The new owners plan to make improvements to the theater, which is the only movie theater in this area, with installation of state-of-the- art digital sound and new seating, and converting one of the theaters for viewing High Definition movies, including 3-D High Definition, also known as “RealD.”
The first “RealD” 3-D movie the Mansfield Movieplex 8 will show is Disney-Pixar’s “UP,” which opens on Friday, May 29.
The theater is now open daily, including matinees through April 26 during the school vacation. Admission to showings before 6 p.m. will be $6 a ticket.

When was it closed? I don’t go to movies anymore. Too expensive.
