He has been Chief of the University of Connecticut Fire Department for over 15 years at the Storrs Campus, and would have celebrated 37 years of dedicated service this coming September. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Watkins Funeral Home, 142 East Center St., Manchester.
Lindsey will serve on the Mansfield Town Council until November 2009 elections.
Andrix also said the church, which has a purchase agreement for the property, still wants to buy the land owned by Alice E. Dunnack and Jane Herchenreder. He said that the project will be reexamined and that this is “not the end of the road” for expansion plans.
Among her many activities, Iris served on the Board of Education and the Democratic Town Committee, and was actively involved in the League of Women Voters. A memorial celebration of Iris’s life will be held at Zenny’s Restaurant in Storrs [Mansfield] CT on Aug. 9, 2009, at 1 p.m.
