water-faucet-plasticwrapMansfield Middle School Principal Jeff Cryan sent an emailed notice to students’ families on Sunday [Sept. 20] to alter them to a problem with the school’s water.

Cryan states that a routine test of the school’s water system last week detected coliform bacteria in the water.

“Our maintenance department began treating the system on Friday afternoon [Sept. 18] as soon as we learned of the test results,” Cryan states.

The water system will now be treated with chlorine, flushed and then retested “by the middle of next week,” he states.

“Until we get satisfactory tests of the water system, we will provide bottled drinking water at dispensers located next to the hallway water fountains. We have been advised that the tap water is safe for hand washing and toilet flushing.”

“We will keep you up-to-date on this matter as we receive new information,” the notice states.
