Dates set for review of Mansfield 2011-2012 budget

Please note these important dates:

Budget presented to the Town Council

Wednesday, March 23, 7 p.m., Council Chambers, Audrey P. Beck Municipal Building, 4 South Eagleville Road/RT 275. (next to E.O. Smith High School) The public is invited to attend this meeting.

Public information session on the budget #1

Thursday, March 31, 7 p.m., Council Chambers, Beck Building (Town Hall).

Public hearing on the proposed budget

Monday, April 11, 7:30 p.m., Council Chambers, Beck Building.

Public information session on the budget #2

Thursday, April 28, 7 p.m., Council Chambers – Beck Building

Region #19 Referendum (E.O. Smith High School budget vote)

Note: A public hearing on the Reg. 19 budget is scheduled for 7 p.m. on March 22 at the High School. For more information, call the superintendent’s office at 860.487-1862.

The referendum is scheduled for Tuesday, May 3, 2011 – Polls are open from 6 a.m. – 8 p.m.  All Mansfield districts vote at the Audrey P. Beck Municipal Building.

Separate votes are also held May 3 in the Region 19 member towns of Ashford and Willington.

Mansfield Annual Town Meeting

Tuesday, May 10, 2011, 7 p.m., Mansfield Middle School Auditorium (Street address is 205 Spring Hill Road, entrance is off of Maple Road). The vote may be taken at the Town Meeting or the Town Meeting may be adjourned to a referendum (at a future date) through petition.

Want to be an extra at a Storrs Center photo shoot?

Paving Storrs Road – Route 195 in Mansfield

Milling and paving of Storrs Road (Route 195) – part of improvements being made to this main roadway associated with the Storrs Center development – is expected to begin on Friday, May 17, 2013.

As scheduled, the paving should be complete by Tuesday, May 21. Poor weather may delay these efforts.

Malloy proclaims National Teacher Day in CT

As a social studies teacher at Berlin High School, David Bosso has been able to enrich his teaching about world history and cultures with trips to Ghana, China, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Japan, and Egypt.  On his blog, Global Wanderings, Bosso writes, "I have a keen desire to not only educate my students about the world around them, but also to learn as much as possible to better inform my own knowledge base."

National Teacher Day is part of Teacher Appreciation Week, which is celebrated May 6-10, 2013.
