Reminder, Two important votes in Mansfield today

Electors in the three towns that make up Regional School District 19 – which oversees the operation of E.O. Smith High School in Mansfield – will vote on the budget today. Polling places in each town (Ashford, Mansfield and Willington) will be open until 8 p.m.

In Mansfield, this is a single voting location, at the Audrey P. Beck Municipal Building (Town Hall), at 4 South Eagleville Road/Route 275.

The Annual Town Meeting at which the proposed budget for the Town of Mansfield will be presented will be held tonight (May 8 ) at 7 p.m. in the Mansfield Middle School auditorium.

Want to be an extra at a Storrs Center photo shoot?

“We’d love for you to participate in the photo shoot if you can. ‘Extras’ will be needed to show people walking, peeking in storefronts, dining outdoors or interacting with friends, children or pets.”

Paving Storrs Road – Route 195 in Mansfield

Milling and paving of Storrs Road (Route 195) – part of improvements being made to this main roadway associated with the Storrs Center development – is expected to begin on Friday, May 17, 2013.

As scheduled, the paving should be complete by Tuesday, May 21. Poor weather may delay these efforts.

Malloy proclaims National Teacher Day in CT

As a social studies teacher at Berlin High School, David Bosso has been able to enrich his teaching about world history and cultures with trips to Ghana, China, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Japan, and Egypt.  On his blog, Global Wanderings, Bosso writes, "I have a keen desire to not only educate my students about the world around them, but also to learn as much as possible to better inform my own knowledge base."

National Teacher Day is part of Teacher Appreciation Week, which is celebrated May 6-10, 2013.
