Watch for projected images on the Willimantic Brewing Co exterior

The collection of twenty rotating images is each artist’s individual interpretation of a Green Light, in support of The Last Green Valley and their 3rd Annual Green Lights Project.

In partnership with the Willimantic Screen Project, The Willimantic Brewing Co. will host a “Green Lights Night” on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013 beginning at 5 pm.

Presented in conjunction with Thread City Development Inc., Eastern Connecticut State University and the Town of Windham, the Willimantic Brewing Company will project digital images onto the High Street façade of its building each night from Wednesday thorugh St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 2013.

The Last Green Valley has asked local business, town officials and residents to replace at least one light bulb with a green one, in support of the beautiful National Heritage Corridor.

Willibrew’s Green Lights Night festivities include its own green light display, as well as the art projections, and will feature “green” specials that showcase local, sustainable food ingredients.

“I like that it’s a unique, community project that involves so many local organizations working together” said Karen Gilbransen, Marketing Coordinator at The Willimantic Brewing Co.

About the Willimantic Brewing Company

The restaurant and pub-brewery makes many different types of beer each month, and features other producers’ craft brews on draught as well.

About the Last Green Valley’s Green Lights Project

The Last Green Valley encompasses the 35-town National Heritage Corridor that stretches from eastern Connecticut into south-central Massachusetts.

At night, when viewed from satellites or aircraft, the region appears distinctively dark amid the urban and suburban glow. In the daytime, the green fields and forests confirm the surprisingly rural character of the 1,085 square-mile area defined by the Quinebaug and Shetucket Rivers systems and the rugged hills that surround them.

For this reason, northeastern Connecticut and south-central Massachusetts have been called “The Last Green Valley” in the sprawling, metropolitan Boston-to-Washington Corridor.

The Last Green Valley is calling on all communities and residents to show their support for our beautiful National Heritage Corridor by lighting up green during Green Lights, January 15 – March 17, 2013.  Town officials, local businesses and private residents are asked to change out at least one light bulb with a green-colored, energy-efficient bulb during these festivities.
