On Monday afternoon, Oct. 21, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, joined by state lawmakers, UConn President Susan Herbst and other UConn officials, will hold a ceremony in Storrs-Mansfield to celebrate final approval of Next Generation Connecticut.
A major initiative endorsed by more than 100 businesses, Next Generation Connecticut invests $1.5 billion in UConn to support major expansions across three campuses.
This investment is expected to bring thousands of jobs to the state and over the next ten years, catalyze hundreds of millions of dollars in research investment and business activity.
Legislation authorizing the initiative (PA 13-233) was approved by the Connecticut General Assembly earlier this year.
The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at UConn in the lobby of the Information Technologies Engineering Building, 371 Fairfield Way on the Storrs campus.
