As they had in their quarter-final win against Northeastern a week ago, the Huskies jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first period and then hung on for the win.

After the Big East Championship and the NCAA Tournament are concluded, a couple of Husky hoopsters could well be playing in the ultimate post-season games, the Olympics.

Phylicia George broke the 29-year old record in the 55-meter hurdles with a finishing time of 7.69 in the event’s preliminaries.

Friday’s airing will be episode one of a four-part series that will offer a unique all-access look at the team’s inner workings.

Although relinquishing their crown, the Connecticut women did finish on the podium in third place.

The UConn men’s hockey team will host this year’s annual “Skate with the Huskies” event on Sunday, Feb. 14.

In all, 16 Connecticut student-athletes maintained the necessary grades to qualify for this recognition, one more than the 15 players from Rutgers named to the all-academic lineup.

Eleven of the student-athletes play defense and nine play offense, including 6-foot-2, 210-pound quarterback Scott McCummings from Natick, Mass.
