The Major Crimes Squad of the State Police is investigating a break-in that occured this morning at an apartment on the Willimantic-Mansfield town line.

State Police are looking for four suspects in a "home invasion" that took place at about 10 a.m. today [Oct. 6] at the Colonial Townhouse Apartments on the Willimantic-Mansfield town line.

The victims are a couple who were sleeping when four men allegedly broke into their apartment. Police are not disclosing the names of the victims at this time. However, the victims, who fled their apartment through a window, were not injured. And the intruders apparently left when they discovered the person they were looking for no longer lived at that address.

Police searched the area for several hours, and say the intruders may have been driving a blue SUV.

Anyone with information that could help in the investigation of this case should call State Police Troop C at 896-3222.

This story will be updated when more details become available.

Brenda Sullivan image While many readers will know me from The Courant, The Chronicle and The Reminder... let me introduce myself as the editor of Mansfield Today. I've been a reporter in this area for many years and first began covering Mansfield news when I worked for The Chronicle in 1991. I am very excited about this new publication because like many of you, I no longer have a subscription to a printed newspaper, and you can have direct input on the stories you read via comments at the end of each article. If you happen to see me out and about in town, please feel free to say "Hello," and let me know what you think of this publication.
