John Peter Contos - Feb. 12, 1956 - Nov. 4, 2008
His proudest moments were spent in the Junior Achievement Program, where he left a lasting legacy with the many young people he mentored.
John Peter Contos, dear son of the late Harry and Irene (Demetrion) Contos, died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008. John was born on Feb. 12, 1956, in Willimantic, CT.He was educated in the Windham Public Schools and graduated from Windham High School in 1974. He attended Roger Williams College and graduated 1st in his class in 1978. He received his Masters Degree in Business Administration from Lindenwood University in St. Louis, MO. Shortly after his graduation he joined the Anheuser-Busch business family, where he remained until his death.
John was an avid tennis player and runner who enjoyed all sports, especially in the company of his family and friends.
His proudest moments were spent in the Junior Achievement Program, where he left a lasting legacy with the many young people he mentored.
John is survived by his sister Anne Willette and her husband Larry of Tolland, CT, and two brothers, Evans Contos of Willimantic, CT. and Christopher Contos and his wife Maryann of Franklin, CT. John also has many nieces and nephews of whom he was very proud.
In addition, John leaves an extended family at Anheuser-Busch and many, many other friends in St. Louis.
His family will receive friends on Monday Nov. 10 between 6: and 8 p.m. at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic. The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, 414 Valley St. Willimantic, with interment following in New Willimantic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s name can be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 77 Westport Plaza (Suite 101), St. Louis, MO 63146, and will be appreciated.
