UConn basketball 'First Night' fun on Oct. 17 [update]
Men's and women's teams will hold an autograph session. The night also includes Slam Dunk contests and scrimmages.
The University of Connecticut men’s and women’s basketball teams will kick off their 2008-09 season on Friday, Oct. 17 with the annual “First Night” activities at Gampel Pavilion. The event is free and open to the public. The doors open at 6 p.m.
The men’s and women’s teams will hold an autograph session that starts at 6 p.m. Players and coaches from both teams will be available, and free posters will be distributed to fans.
“First Night” activites begin at 7 p.m. and will include: a Women’s Team/Student Relay Race, a Men’s and Women’s Two-Ball Contest and a Slam Dunk Contest by the mens’ team.
Both teams will also hold mini-intrasquad scrimmages.
Schedule of Events:
6 p.m. - Doors Open/Autograph Session with men's and women's teams
6:45 p.m. - Autograph Session Ends
7:05 p.m. - Lights Out/Women's Video Highlights/WBB Team Intros
7:23 p.m. - WBB Player/Student Relay Race
7:35 p.m. - WBB Scrimmage
7:54 p.m. - Lights Out/Women's Video Highlights/MBB Team Intros
8:09 p.m. - MBB/WBB 2-Ball Challenge
8:21 p.m. - MBB Dunk Contest
8:35 p.m. - MBB Scrimmage
