Game marks the second round of the BIG EAST Tournament

The No. 15/16 University of Connecticut men's soccer team sets its sights on the BIG EAST Tournament, set to begin Wednesday afternoon at campus sites.

The Huskies have a first-round bye and will host the winner of the DePaul/Pittsburgh game on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. at Morrone Stadium.

Tickets for Saturday night's contest are available at the UConn Ticket Office and on-line at www.UConnHuskies.com , or by phone at 486-2724.

UConn's 2-1 victory over Seton Hall on Friday night improved the team's overall record to 9-3-6 and BIG EAST record to 6-3-2, clinching a first-round bye in the tournament.

UConn battled Pittsburgh to a 2-2 double overtime tie on Tuesday, Oct. 28, on the road during regular season play.

The Huskies did not face DePaul in the 2008 regular season, but took on the Blue Demons on the road on Sept. 23, 2007 and fell 1-0 in BIG EAST Conference action, marking the Huskies' first loss of the 2007 season.

The Huskies - who finished the 2008 regular season as the No. 2 seed in the Blue Division - will stand by on Wednesday, Nov. 5 as DePaul hosts the Panthers at 2 p.m. in Chicago.

If the Huskies defeat the winner of that game in the Saturday night contest, then UConn will travel to Tampa for the BIG EAST Semifinals on Friday, Nov. 14 at the USF Soccer/Track Stadium.

St. John's and Notre Dame won their respective divisions and were named BIG EAST

Regular Season Champions for the Blue (Notre Dame) and Red (St. John's) Divisions, earned a first round bye; they will host the second round of play on Saturday.

Notre Dame will face the winner of the No. 5 (Blue) West Virginia/No. 4 (Red) Louisville game, which will be played on Saturday night at 7 p.m.

St. John's will host the winner of the No. 5 (Red) Villanova/No. 4 (Blue) Providence contest, also on Saturday at 7 p.m.

South Florida is the second seed for the Red Division; they will host the winner of the No. 3 (Blue) Georgetown/No. 6 (Red) Cincinnati-Rutgers game on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.

Rutgers faces St. John's on today [Nov. 3] to make up a rained-out game from last week.

If Rutgers wins, the team will be the No. 6 seed; if they lose, the Cincinnati Bearcats will earn that sixth spot.
